Helping young people reach their goals.
Wanted: the face of Mencap
Monday 07 November 2011
Could you be the star of Mencap’s next advertising campaign?

Mencap is looking for a person with a learning disability to feature in an advertising campaign for its services.
The advertising campaign will be called ‘New year, new me’, so Mencap wants to hear from people with a learning disability about what they hope to achieve in 2012.
“It doesn’t matter how large or small your goal seems, we’d love to hear from you,” said Julie Shaw, Mencap’s marketing development manager. “This year, we’ve helped thousands of people to achieve their goals – including Allan going scuba diving, Rachel starting college and Dipam learning to cook. Next year we’d like to support even more people to achieve the ordinary and extraordinary.”
The competition is being supported by Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall, a former support worker. He said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting the winners of the ‘New year, new me’ competition and helping people with a learning disability make positive changes to their life.
“Making new year’s resolutions and personal goals are a great way to make lasting change to your life and can help others as well.”
To enter, please send an email, photo or short film about what you would like to achieve to newyearnewme@mencap.org.uk
Every entrant will receive a phone case and the winner will meet Jai McDowall and appear in the advertising campaign, including print and radio adverts.
Only people who live in the UK can enter, and people can only send in one entry each. The closing date is 2 December.
Please note, by entering the competition the winners are agreeing to take part in any promotional activity required by Mencap.
Make your entry stand out by sending in a photo of yourself with your goals on a Mencap message board.
