Mencap’s new look is unveiled as part of plans to move the organisation forward.
This week saw the introduction of Mencap's new visual identity – just part of the plans to make Mencap a more modern and dynamic organisation.
Things that have changed include the new logo and new colours. You can see the changes for yourself all around this new website.
Mencap also has a new strapline (the text under the logo) – The voice of learning disability. It clearly shows what Mencap stands for, and sets a challenge for Mencap to include everyone in the learning disability community – families, carers, professionals, and people with a learning disability themselves.
People attending the Flora London Marathon last week were treated to a sneak preview of the new look, where 141 runners took part for Mencap wearing T-shirts with new logo.
The visual identity includes a new typeface (font) called FS Mencap. It is the first accessible typeface to be designed through work with people with a learning disability and appears in all Mencap's printed materials.
Ismail Kaji was part of the learning disability group who tested the font. He said: “We took a long time deciding which were the easiest to read and the clearest to see. The results are great and will have an impact on Mencap's future work.”
