Cuts

Local authorities must stop making cuts to social care services that support people with a learning disability

Mencap is fighting against the cuts and for the rights of people with a learning disability and their families to live safe, happy and independent lives.

We believe that
  • local councils must look at ways to save money that don’t involve cutting frontline services
  • people with a learning disability and their families must not lose access to vital support such as day services, short breaks and transport
  • when a local authority cuts a service the people affected should challenge this and fight for the services they need.

Stop cuts to short breaks in your area
