Find out more about Mencap's work in Parliament

Mencap's vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included. We want everyone to have the opportunity to achieve the things they want out of life. We lobby government and work with politicians of all parties to try to improve the lives of people with a learning disability.

We tell them about issues that affect people with a learning disability and their families, and what should happen to make sure they are treated fairly. We often work with other organisations who share our concerns, including Every Disabled Child Matters, the Learning Disability Coalition and the PMLD network.

We work closely with MPs and peers from all political parties to raise the issues facing people with a learning disability, their carers and families.
