Developing ICT skills and networks of support.
In May we had a celebration to say thank you to everyone who was involved in the Disability Community Engagement Team (DCET) for their hard work.
It was at the London 2012 shop at Westfield in Stratford. The shop is massive. The two Olympics mascots were also there. Baroness Tanni Grey Thompson spoke at the event. She is a former Paralympic athlete.
At the party I got to have my photo taken with the medals that will be given out at the Games. I also had my photo taken with the torch. It was taken in front of a blue screen, then they added in a background of the Olympic Stadium.
In May we also had the last meeting of the DCET in Canary Wharf. We talked about Changing Places toilets being at every venue. We were shown the community engagement packs which had flags, bunting and a banner for community groups to put up and use to celebrate the Olympics and Paralympics.
We were thanked for all our help with LOCOG and the group agreed to meet after the games for a final time. This will happen in September at RNIB offices.
I am proud that I was involved with making the Games accessible to more people. I am very excited about the Games!
