Become a Treat me well Champion

Why become a Treat me well Champion?

1,200 people with a learning disability die avoidably every year. And people with a learning disability die younger than the rest of the population by 17 years on average.

This has to change, and better hospital care is a huge part of this. Sign up as a Treat me well Champion to play your part.

What will you do as a Treat me well Champion?

As a Treat me well Champion, you'll get tailored information, access to training opportunities and campaigning resources to help you bring about change in your own hospitals.

You'll have a chance to meet other hospital staff and people with a learning disability who want change locally and nationally.

What's the Treat me well campaign about?

We want hospital staff to understand the simple changes that make a big difference for people with a learning disability in hospital: more time, better communication and clearer information.

We're also calling on the Government to make training on learning disability mandatory for hospital workers.

Where can you find out more?

On the Mencap website. Visit our Treat me well pages to read the campaign report, watch video content and find out more about what's coming soon.
